The type was later used by the Royal Air Force and a number of civilian versions were built. The Wessex was used for anti submarine warfare, but was better known for its role as a search and rescue helicopter. The HCC4 version was used on the Queen's Flight of the RAF to transport VIPs and members of the Royal
